Ingredients:
1 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon butter
2 large egg yolks, beaten
1 package vanilla wafers
6 bananas, sliced
1 cup heavy cream, whipped
Directions:
In a saucepan, combine sugar, flour, and salt. Add milk gradually while stirring.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thickened. Remove from heat.
Stir in vanilla and butter until well combined.
Slowly add beaten egg yolks to the mixture, stirring constantly to prevent curdling.
Return to heat and cook for 2 more minutes, continuing to stir. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
In a serving dish, alternate layers of vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and pudding mixture.
Top with whipped cream.
Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
