Description

This Beef and Broccoli Lo Mein recipe brings together tender beef, crisp broccoli, and savory lo mein noodles in a delicious homemade meal that’s ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 8 oz lo mein noodles
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (for marinating the beef)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for stir-frying)
  • Optional: sliced bell peppers, mushrooms, chili flakes for spice

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, mix the sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Cook the Noodles: Boil the lo mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and toss with a little sesame oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Blanch the Broccoli: Boil the broccoli in a pot of water for 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
  4. Stir-Fry the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned.
  5. Combine Ingredients: Add the broccoli to the pan with the beef. Pour in the oyster sauce, soy sauce, garlic, and sugar. Stir to combine.
  6. Add Noodles: Toss the cooked noodles into the pan, ensuring everything is well-coated with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently.
  7. Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute beef with tofu or mushrooms.
  • Adjust the sauce to your taste; add chili flakes for a spicy kick.
